The Autumn Book Fair in Havlíčkův Brod, taking place since 1991, is the second largest Czech book fair and the only one, where the visitors can meet not only the big publishing houses, but also the little, specialised, non-commercial etc. ones. The Autumn Book
Fair is Czech national book fair, the exhibitors are above all Czech publishers (and some publishers from Slovakia), the visitors are coming from Czech republic and Slovakia - from other countries are coming above all translators of Czech literature and other people,
who can read in Czech language.
Three reasons, why is worth coming to Autumn Book Fair?
- First: During two days of Book Fair you can meet all very important people of Czech book trade - publishers, librarians, booksellers, writers, translators, illustrators...
- Second: Autumn Book Fair provides wide scala of accompanying programmes - you can take part in them or come like a visitor. Most programmes are in Czech only, however, it is not absolutely necessary to understand Czech, when you want to visit for example exhibition of
contemporary Czech book illustration in Havlíčkův Brod art gallery.
- Third: You can meet here the important booksellers and wholesalers, who will trade your foreign language books in Czech republic - most of Czech booksellers provide already books in English and other foreign languages. Also the „normal“ visitors are interested in
books in foreign languages, above all in English and German.
